2024 marks a significant year for Fresno’s cannabis industry, with the opening of its latest dispensary, Higher Level, joining the city’s burgeoning market. This new addition, located on Blackstone Ave., near Shaw Avenue, welcomed its first visitors at noon on Wednesday, beginning its journey as Fresno’s seventh recreational cannabis outlet.
Salvatore Palma, the CEO of the Seaside-based Higher Level of Care, shared that the dispensary’s launch was initially celebrated with family and friends before opening its doors to the broader public. Higher Level is gearing up for a soft opening on Thursday, followed by a grand celebration on February 16.
Operating hours for Higher Level are set from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Occupying the space that once housed Imagen GraphicsโHigher Level’s signage providerโthe dispensary spans 3,000 square feet. Renovation efforts for this new venture began in June, culminating in the acquisition of a certificate of occupancy in mid-January. Currently, the Fresno branch employs 42 individuals.
In addition to its Fresno storefront, Higher Level of Care operates in several other locations, including Seaside, Hollister, and Greenfield. The Fresno outlet is co-owned by local entrepreneur Marley Forsythe, among others, as indicated in the commercial cannabis business permit application filed by Higher Level. The business plan outlines an investment of $1.34 million in the new storefront, with the owners having nearly $8 million in capital ready for the project’s needs.
